About this cartridge

Filter 2 carries part number W10413645A. It sits in the same interior position as Filter 1 on many models, which is exactly why people order the wrong one — the two look alike and differ mainly in length.

Certified to 42 and 53 at 200 gallons. Confirm the number printed on the cartridge you are removing before ordering.

These part numbers refer to the same physical cartridge. If the number on your old filter is in this list, this is the right replacement.

Not interchangeable with Filter 1 (W10295370A).

Which refrigerators it fits

Whirlpool has not published a model-level list for this cartridge that we can verify, so we do not publish one either. The number on the cartridge you are removing is the reliable check.

Replacing it

  1. Turn the old cartridge a quarter turn counter-clockwise and pull it straight out. Keep a towel under it — a few ounces of water will come out.
  2. Remove the protective cap from the new cartridge and check that the O-rings are seated flat in their grooves.
  3. Push it in and turn clockwise until it stops. Run two to three gallons through the dispenser to flush carbon fines, then reset the indicator.

Common questions

Does the EDR2RXD1 fit my Whirlpool refrigerator?
The cartridge fits the everydrop Filter 2 housing housing. Give us the refrigerator model number and we will confirm it against the housing list.
How often do I need to replace the EDR2RXD1?
Whirlpool rates it at 6 months or 200 gallons, whichever comes first. High-volume households usually hit the gallon limit before the calendar limit.
Is W10413645A the same filter as EDR2RXD1?
Yes. W10413645A, FILTER2, P9WB2L all refer to the same physical cartridge. The suffix tracks packaging or retail channel, not fit.
Can I use an aftermarket 2RXD1 replacement?
Physically, usually yes — the housing is the same. The difference is certification breadth and seal tolerance. Check that any third-party part carries an NSF 42 or 53 mark, and on chip-equipped housings (GE XWFE, RPWFE, newer Samsung) that it includes a recognition chip.
