everydrop Filter 3, the long push-in cartridge that lives in the base grille of Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerators. Older part numbers 4396710 and 4396841.
About this cartridge
EDR3RXD1 is the retail name; everydrop lists P1WB2 and P1WB2L as the numbers it supersedes, and the pre-everydrop codes 4396710 and 4396841 still appear on older fridge documentation. Kenmore packs the same cartridge as 46-9083 and 46-9030.
This cartridge sits in the left side of the base grille at floor level — you eject it with a button rather than twisting it, which makes it physically impossible to confuse with the twist-lock Filters 1, 2 and 4 that sit inside the compartment.
everydrop certifies Filter 3 to NSF/ANSI 42 and 53 at 200 gallons or six months, with a stated 0.5–<1.0 µm rating, and claims reduction of 73 contaminants including lead, mercury, asbestos and pharmaceuticals (per the official everydrop Filter 3 product page).

These part numbers refer to the same physical cartridge. If the number on your old filter is in this list, this is the right replacement.
Filter 3 pushes into the base grille; Filters 1, 2 and 4 twist in inside the compartment. The 4396710 / 4396841 numbers belong to Filter 3, not to the interior cartridges.
Which refrigerators it fits
Whirlpool has not published a model-level list for this cartridge that we can verify, so we do not publish one either. The number on the cartridge you are removing is the reliable check.

- Turn the old cartridge a quarter turn counter-clockwise and pull it straight out. Keep a towel under it — a few ounces of water will come out.
- Remove the protective cap from the new cartridge and check that the O-rings are seated flat in their grooves.
- Push it in and turn clockwise until it stops. Run two to three gallons through the dispenser to flush carbon fines, then reset the indicator.
